Southern Africa with Taryn Daley Miller
Just a couple weeks ago, our travel designer, Taryn Daley Miller returned from escorting a trip of first-time travelers to Africa. They dined at the best establishments in Cape Town, witnessed whales breaching in Hermanus, sipped local wines in Stellenbosch and spotted big game on Safari in Botswana.
One of their most exciting moments came as a surprise when they visited Solomon's wall in Botswana, not knowing what to expect to see. Taryn describes their experience below:
"We had been told that we might see some game, and were quietly disappointed as everyone was really enjoying seeing the animals. We were pleasantly surprised when we turned the corner and saw this massive wall where there was a herd of at least 100 elephants who were playing and drinking out of the waterhole.
It was an absolutely beautiful scene, with the light shining from just the right angle to cast a magical glow over the area. We watched in utter joy as the families played in the water and then made their way along the wall to their next destination.
It was as if they knew that it was our last night in Africa, and wanted to send us out with a bang! Afterward, we enjoyed sun-downers at the top of a giant rock, next to an ancient baobab tree.
This was a perfect final memory to share with my travel companions, after a perfect two weeks in Africa! "
