Just this past weekend, Michelle Andersen had the oppportunity to explore the beautiful property The Cloister at Sea Island in Georgia. Here she recaps her experience:
A truly remarkable property in all aspects and thoroughly deserving of the many accolades received over the years. From the moment we arrived, the greeting at the entry gate reflected a genuine Southern Charm and quickly made us forget the seven hours on the road! We were greeted upon arrival at the hotel by our personal bellman who quickly took charge, unloading our car and directing us to the front desk where our check in was prompt and efficient. Tim, our bellman guided us to our accommodations and in conversation mentioned he had been at the resort for 20 years. Our accommodation was 700 feet of space overlooking the River with a lovely terrace and quickly became our sitting area of choice. Well accommodated spa type of bathroom with wonderful soaking tub, separate shower, double sinks, and ample closet space.
Due to our late arrival, we opted for dinner in the River Bar with a more casual atmosphere. The River Bar offers a club type of setting with wonderful views of the River. A huge fireworks display illuminated the sky as we were dining – one of the events for the RSM Golf Tournament and we had front row seats for the event!
Saturday was all about Golf – departed the hotel early to be able to watch the players warm off and we managed to be on the first tee for the start of Saturdays rounds – It was a thrill to be up close and personal with some of golf’s greatest players, among them, Matt Kuchar, VJ Singh, Davis Love III, Graeme McDowell, Freddie Jacobson and Kevin Kisner to name a few. The Seaside course is spectacular, challenging and immaculate. (One of three courses!)
Saturday afternoon had a chance to walk and view the Sea Island Beach club venue, the Sporting Club and really just enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds on one of the many walkways. Sea Island offers a myriad of activities for families, children, teens and of course adults. It is an ideal location for a multi-generational group as there is truly something for everyone! There are numerous restaurant choices (10) and often, special events ranging from BBQ under the stars to chef experiences.
Ideal stay – three days
