Join Admiral Travel in Welcoming Chef Anna Ridgewell from South Africa's Londolozi Game Reserve to Sarasota
Admiral Travel is pleased to sponsor Londolozi Game Reserve Executive Chef Anna Ridgewell as she journeys from South Africa to Sarasota in November to host multiple events in partnership with Michael’s On East and Michael’s Wine Cellar.
Michael Klauber, co-proprietor of the restaurant and adjacent wine store, and his wife Terri traveled to Londolozi Game Reserve in 2011 and 2013 while leading exclusive journeys for the Gulf Coast Connoisseur Club in partnership with Admiral Travel International. Members of the public are invited to attend two special functions hosted by the visiting chef in Sarasota:
• South African Wine Tasting
6 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Michael’s Wine Cellar
Guests will taste dozens of South African wines including great values and top selections from Boekenhoutskloof, Ernie Els, Guardian Peak, Graham Beck Wines, Groot Constantia, Hamilton Russell, Neil Ellis, Rustenberg, Rust en Vrede, Spice Route and Stark-Conde. During the tasting, Chef Anna Ridgewell will welcome guests with a selection of hors d'oeuvres from Londolozi as she prepares a signature dish. Admission to the tasting is $25 per person and each attendee will receive $25 off retail purchases of $100 or more during the event. Space is limited and reservations are required.
• Safari Sarasota: An Interactive Cooking Dinner
6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Michael’s On East Ballroom
Chef Anna Ridgewell will lead 200 guests as they prepare four courses at their individual tables throughout the Michael’s On East Ballroom. Her original Cape Malay recipes will be paired with top South African wines. Tickets are $150 per person or $250 per person for “All Heart” Patron Tickets and can be purchased via phone by calling 941-366-0007, ext. 229. Advanced reservations are required.
Beth Knopik and Terri Klauber are co-chairs of this first-time Safari Sarasota event, a fundraiser for the new All Heart Fund at the Good Work Foundation. A nonprofit established in 2006, the Good Work Foundation delivers digital-era literacy education and career-training to children and adults living in rural communities in South Africa. The All Heart Fund will create opportunities for students to travel to larger communities for additional educational and leadership experiences and to connect with real-life businesses. In addition, one student will be chosen to receive the Leanna Knopik Cup, an annual award that recognizes the student who demonstrates the biggest “heart.” The All Heart Fund has been established in honor of Steve and Beth Knopik’s daughter, Leanna Knopik of Sarasota, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 16 after contracting a rare heart infection.
“Londolozi has been such a magical place for Michael and me, as well as our close friends, the Knopik family,” said Terri Klauber. “Over the years, we have fallen deeper in love with the wildlife on safari, as well as the important conservation and educational initiatives of the region. It is a natural and beautiful legacy for Leanna, a special angel with a big heart.”
These South African-themed events also mark the opening of reservations for a 2015 Gulf Coast Connoisseur Club trip which will allow members of the public the opportunity to experience the exceptional hospitality of South Africa’s finest five-star resorts, dine at some of the most celebrated restaurants in the world, tour historic wine farms and explore safari experiences, including game drives at Londolozi Game Reserve.
For reservations or to secure an event sponsorship, contact Michael’s On East Marketing Director Jamie Jalwan at 941-366-0007, ext. 229 or email@example.com.
