African Gastronaut, Passionate Visionary & Dear Friend

Our team mourned the loss of an admired colleague and dear friend earlier this week as the world learned that Chef Bruce Robertson tragically passed away on November 3, 2014, just days after being diagnosed with leukemia.

The Cape Town native was a visionary leader and creative chef whose inspirational spirit and maverick ways were truly loved. We will forever remember and celebrate Chef Bruce’s passion for food and life.
“I always enjoyed working with Chef Bruce Robertson to produce the great culinary encounters we did together. No matter what other culinary delights we enjoyed in South Africa - by any of the regions most talented - for my travelers, Bruce’s food always stood out as exceptional as a result of his enthusiasm and sincerity. Always, always flavorful, I will forever know him as the one, the only, African Gastronaut. His passion and colorful character will be missed.”
- Ryan Hilton, Safari Specialist, Admiral Travel International
“Passionate, engaging, immensely talented and truly one of a kind. I feel privileged to have known and worked with Chef Bruce over the years and always considered his work groundbreaking. Regardless of the content within a long list of once-in-a-lifetime experiences encountered by our travelers, a day with Chef Bruce enjoying his culinary artwork proved to be a highlight for those fortunate enough to participate. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, he was loved by many and will be missed dearly.”
