I hope you have enjoyed a great summer filled with memorable experiences.
For Admiral Travel International and the Hilton Family, this was our busiest travel season yet!

Self Drive Tour along the Mediterranean outside Crete

Prior to our summer of hosted travel experiences, we literally spun a globe to see where we could go for a week as a family.   We decided on Greece and loved, loved, loved it (despite the fact that there is not a lamb gyro to be found in the entire country!).

We visited Crete, which we all absolutely fell in love with. Rented a car and did a self drive of Elounda, where Carter and Ryan fished while Alex and I enjoyed a very relaxing spa day.  We also spent a night in Athens and drove to the  Peloponnese to experience one of my favorite brand’s new properties, Amanzoe, situated on a hilltop close to the town of Porto Heli.  What a fantastic destination for families, and really anyone who wants to visit less-travelled parts of Greece.  You can bet I’ve got my eye on a few choice villas to complement the Aman experience, just as an FYI in case you’re interested.

After a fabulous vacation in Greece, the working part of our travels began.  We flew to Stockholm to meet our annual CVIS medical group on the Oceania Marina (a first for me), and can’t say enough great things about it.  Usually when my daughter gives something a “thumbs up” it has to be good!  We experienced all the Baltic countries and have to say that our one-day rail journey to Moscow was the highlight for me.  The only downside was the wise crack I made about Russian immigration via email and within an hour, my Blackberry had a meltdown.  Imagine me, phone-less, in Europe for the next two weeks…I had Facebook withdrawal for sure!

After CVIS, I joined guests who chose to disembark one day early in Berlin - another first for me, visiting this great city. To be there on July 4 was quite special.  From there, I flew to Barcelona, where I had a charter of 240 guests who thoroughly enjoyed eating and drinking their way through Barcelona and the Basque country.  After Barcelona, I continued onward to Africa.

Our AuthentEscapes safari division is rapidly expanding, so we took a week with our team to experience our most favorite destination in the world – South Africa.  Everyone should visit South Africa at least once to experience the amazing game lodges and wildlife in addition to the wines, delicious cuisine and knowledgeable guides, and to be inspired by philanthropic efforts that make a real difference in local communities and to the environment as a whole.

I’ve most recently returned from Virtuoso Week in Las Vegas, the annual luxury travel expo where I catch up with our cruise, hotel and

resort partners to plan the best ways to experience upcoming and favorite destinations.  We have many ideas in store for 2014 and beyond. lists new packages and perks exclusively for our Travel Connoisseur Club members as they become available.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like the inside scoop on any of the places we visited!
