Itinerary

  1. January 11, 2020

Arrival in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport. You will be greeted by our representative at the airport as soon as you clear customs and will then transfer to The Oberoi, New Delhi.

    Overnight at the hotel.

  2. January 12, 2020

This morning drive to Old Delhi for our tour covering Shajahanabad, a drive by the imposing Red Fort and on to the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Both of these monuments were built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan and are exquisite examples of the architecture of the time. Moving on to Chandni Chowk (the moonlit square), it’s time for a rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes filled with sarees, silver, dry fruits and ittar (the original perfume). A walk through the spice market (the largest in Asia and perhaps, the world) is an incredible experience perhaps only second to our walk through Kinari Bazaar (the Bridal Market) which supplies North India’s incredible wedding industry, estimated at $20 Billion a year!

We will also visit the Bangala Sahib Gurudwara – Delhi’s biggest Sikh temple, spending time visiting the main shrine, the holy tank and the kitchen where 3 free meals for over 10000 people each day are being prepared. Please note that shoes are not allowed in the temple and men and women are both requested to cover their head with a scarf/Handkerchief.

Lunch at The Oberoi, New Delhi.

An evening visit to Humayun’s tomb, the second Mughal Emperor. His tomb has been meticulously restored and is a precursor to the Taj Mahal. The first real monument with Persian architecture, this red sandstone and white marble edifice is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is stunningly beautiful.

This evening a light dinner at the hotel.

    Overnight at the Hotel.

  3. January 13, 2020

Morning transfer to Agra by road (approx. 3 hours drive)

On arrival in Agra transfer to The Oberoi Amarvilas where accommodation will be reserved.

Lunch will be served at the hotel on arrival.

A short drive  for a sightseeing visit to see the intricate Itmad-ud-daulah’s tomb, sometimes called the “Baby Taj”. The intricacies of this building and inlay work pale in comparison intrigue and depth of cunning of the man buried here. Father of the Empress Noor Jehan, he had walked from the Persian court to the Mughal court- penniless! That is a story for your guide to share.

Further on, we stop at Mehtab Bagh, the Mughal Garden uncovered when fake rumors of a Black Taj led to frenetic activity to find the foundation of the mythical structure! The perspective from here enables one to truly understand the size of this monument as well as the proportion and structure that sometimes gets lost when approached directly from the main entrance.

This incredible monument to love, built in memory of Empress Mumtaz by her husband the Emperor Shah Jehan, is one of the most iconic structures known. We have a special place to see this from and it is the most beautiful view with the setting sun.

Tonight dinner at the hotel’s speciality Indian restaurant.

    Overnight at the Hotel.

  4. January 14, 2020

This morning, wake up before dawn to visit the Taj Mahal as the first rays of the sun hit it. The white marble changes from a light grey to a rose hue and then finally to a stunning gold! It is really mesmerizing and can be observed in some peace as the crowds are much thinner.

Return to the Hotel for freshen up and breakfast.

This afternoon, transfer to the airport for flight to Jaipur.

On arrival in Jaipur, enjoy lunch at the Rambagh Palace.

Enjoy a tour of the Old City and the bazaars

Transfer to Aman-i-Khas, Ranthambhore (approx. 3.5 hours drive)

On arrival in Ranthambhore transfer to the Aman-i-Khas where accommodation will be reserved.

A wildlife camp on the threshold of Ranthambore National Park, this ten-tent safari outpost is set in a sun-dappled brushwood forest. The soaring six-meter canopies are divided Mughal style around a communal outdoor fireplace.

Raised on concrete plinths, the 10 air-conditioned Tents echo Mughal pavilions with cotton drapes separating sleeping, dressing and bathing sections.

    Overnight at the Hotel.

Morning and afternoon game viewing with naturalist…this will be full day game drive with full access of the park.
